CURATORIAL PROJECT
2014
Accumulated Comforts embraces and takes into consideration the ambiguity and nature of domestic items that have been discarded in charity shops.
The artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. Hermione Allsopp produces work that is primarily material led and evolves through the choice of objects exploring the boundary between repulsion and attraction. The line in-between can be seen as a space of transition both as a physical and emotional property. There is something intriguing in the way the artist manipulates each individual material. Elements of design are used to enhance the presence of these objects and metaphorically linking each part to past and present, the home or house, to the body and mind.
