Atelier Austmarka Fellowship: 2015
Atelier Austmarka, Norway
Residency Fellowship (May)
This project started with a number of discussions between the Director and me. When I arrived, I was asked if I wanted to produce new works for this particular location. At the beginning everything was loose, there was no fixed outcome. I certainly did not know what the end result would look like. As we began to talk and collect materials, my ideas started to grow. During the process, I shifted from making to performing.
The environment and most importantly the materials that were available attracted me. Although the final outcome is stable, some of the pieces made at the beginning of my residency are vulnerable for example the moving sculpture: Silver Strand. By playing and making different shapes and forms, I wanted to understand how to construct and manipulate the end result.
