CURATORIAL PROJECT
2014
Accumulated Comforts embraces and takes into consideration the ambiguity and nature of domestic items that have been discarded in charity shops.
The artwork is made up of an assemblage of different shapes, thus creating a new whole. Hermione Allsopp produces work that is primarily material-led and evolves through the choice of objects, exploring the boundary between repulsion and attraction. The line between can be seen as a space of transition, both as a physical and emotional property. There is something intriguing about the way the artist manipulates each individual material. Elements of design are used to enhance the presence of these objects and metaphorically link each part to the past and present, the home or house, and the body and mind.
